The British Golf Museum is opening its doors for free this Saturday, 27th February, to kick start a year of celebrations. 2010 marks the 20th anniversary of the British Golf Museum and the 150th anniversary of The Open Championship.

Originally a 'cabinet of curiosities' started by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club in 1864, the collection formed the basis of the Museum, which now displays the largest collection of golfing artefacts and memorabilia in Europe.

Since opening in 1990, the museum has won several major awards and is currently one of only nine museums in Scotland to have been awarded 5 star status by Visit Scotland. For 20 years we have been bringing to life the history and traditions of the game of golf. To meet the expectations of our visitors, we continue to showcase our exceptional collections through visually outstanding displays and interactive interpretation.

To mark its 20th anniversary, the museum is offering free admission on 20 special free entry days throughout the year. Highlights of 2010 will include the unveiling of three new exhibitions. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of The Open we are also showcasing our unique Open Championship collection in our Open Championship Trail, booklet, which will be available for Easter.
