Following a three month closure for refurbishment, the British Golf Museum will reopen its doors in time for Easter on Friday 10th April.

As a five star museum, the British Golf Museum has set itself some ambitious targets over the coming years and our most recent refurbishment does not let us down.

'Driving Ambition: Club and ball development from 1946' is our latest exhibition and it explores the development of golf clubs and balls since 1946 and the role The R&A plays in governing and maintaining equipment standards. Through colourful displays and informative banner panels, you can discover how advances in science and technology have dramatically altered club and ball design. The persimmon woods of the 1940s through to the large-headed titanium drivers of today are highlighted alongside fascinating cross sections of modern golf balls and original tools used in their manufacture.

The museum is also setting itself another ambitious target - to significantly improve its energy efficiency. With this in mind, part of our recent refurbishment entailed an upgrade to the air ventilation system, which will effectively reduce our heating consumption. Meanwhile, the existing lighting has been replaced with low energy L.E.D. bulbs to minimise electricity usage. To improve the aesthetics of the galleries, a new lighter ceiling layout has been installed.

Finally, as part of an ambitious plan to make the museum accessible to all, we have completely renovated our public facilities to ensure they comply with current Disability Discrimination Act legislation.

The changes that we continue to make to the British Golf Museum ensure that we live up to our visitors' high expectations and remain one of Scotland's must see 5 star museums.
