Free entry to The British Golf Museum this Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October to celebrate the anniversary of the first Open Championship.

Wednesday 17th October sees the 147th anniversary of The Open Championship, which was first played at Prestwick in 1860. To mark the occasion we are welcoming visitors to the museum for FREE. The museum is packed full of exciting displays, many of which relate to the history of The Open Championship from its beginnings to the present day. See how The Open has grown from that first small competition when only eight players entered to the global event it is today.

Our exhibition, 'The Open Championship since 1946', focuses on each of the venues used for The Open around the UK. Take the opportunity to view the Claret Jug up close and pick out the names of the game's greatest players.

From our interactive displays, select your favourite Open moments and enjoy highlights dating back to 1923.

At the end of your visit, you can practice putting with replica clubs and balls from the last 175 years.

A visit to the British Golf Museum makes the perfect break from playing golf.
